John Oliver takes on Gov. Paul LePage

In a clip from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver that aired last night (warning: language), the show displays and dissects many of Maine Governor Paul LePage’s recent racist, offensive and false statements, concluding that “while most humans possess a thin barrier preventing thoughts from immediately exiting their brain as words, Paul LePage does not.”

Like many national treatments of Gov. LePage, the segment, titled “People Who Somehow Got Elected,” repeats many of the “horrifying” things that LePage has said, but doesn’t scratch the surface of the effects of the policies he has implemented based on the same troubling thought processes.
