Mainers picket Concord buses, demanding end to warrantless immigration searches

Last summer, Maine’s largest passenger bus company, Concord Coach Lines, said it would not block Customs and Border Patrol agents from conducting warrantless searches of their passengers, even after being urged to do so by the American Civil Liberties Union of Maine.

The weekend before Thanksgiving more than 50 Mainers gathered at Concord Coach Lines at the Portland Transportation Center to call attention to that fact as many Americans of European descent will travel without fear this week, descendants of indigenous peoples from throughout the Americas are now being targeted by descendants of their invaders on bus lines in Maine and around the country.

Jewish Activists in Maine and other community members involved in organizing the demonstration on Sunday demanded that Concord publicly commit to cease all practices that lead to family separation.
